Junior Photographer’s Workshop @ The Pavilion (19th December 2011)
In collaboration with the Pavilion Junior Club and The Picture Company, this Junior Photographer’s Workshop was held at Pavilion's Seven Heaven's (7th Floor) classy and spacious Platinum Room, and was attended by 10 students, ranging from 7 to 14 year olds. Our heart felt thanks to The Picture Company for sponsoring Gift Certificates worth RM270.00 to each of the participants that entitles their family to a free family portrait session at their Pavilion branch on the 6th floor and a Free 5x7 portrait print.
The workshop starts with a slide presentation of some photos taken by other kids of 7 to 11 years old to inspire the participants followed by more of my own works to share with them the endless possibilities of what they can do with their cameras.
Throughout the 4 hours workshop, the students had lots of practical session, review of their works, and also lots of fun learning and getting to know their cameras and new found friends better!
These are some dedications made by the students to their parents on this special day. Students were given the opportunity to take their very own photo and create a hand made and self decorated Christmas card as a gift for their parents!
What a special way to create a special festive gift for their parents!

This workshop also helps to boost the young minds in expressing their creative side with lots of fun. Students are able to explore the art of photography and improve their knowledge in this popular hobby. The main objectives of the workshop were to allow the young participants to open up their mind and imagination, to inspire them, and to allow and facilitate them to interpret their thoughts, creativity and artistry through the the art of photography.
With the strong interest in photography, these students learned not just the basics and preset functions of the camera like Portrait mode, Night Portrait mode, Close-up/Macro mode, Scenery/Landscape mode etc, as well as playing with shooting from different angles and playing with shadows but were also exposed to when to use the buttons at the right point of time for that perfect picture without having to go through too many trial and errors.
Each and every student had their own creativity and perspective in the way they look at a subject. They really had their creative juices flowing through different ways of photo taking such as by shadow play, LED lights, close-ups of miniatures, etc. It’s amazing how these young minds could learn so fast!

It was an enjoyable day with the kids. These students really know how to spend their holidays effectively! Lastly, it was time to say goodbye to the students. A big Thank You to the students for their enthusiastic participation and the parents for investing the kids time (and money) by sending them to this awesome workshop.
This is a last shot of me with the participants and their masterpieces.
